Ayudh Bhubaneswar Celebrates World Water Day

World water day is celebrated all around the globe on 22nd of March, every year.

This year, the members of Ayudh chapter, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, took an initiative to spread awareness about the misuses and misconduct faced by the depleting fresh water resources to the children of various age groups (3-16years of age), at Jeevan Jyoti Ashram (Child Care Institution) Bhubaneswar.

We have conducted interactive sessions, where the Ayudh coordinators elaborately explained to them the hazards faced by the water resources and the measures through which they could help saving them as we showed them educational posters and videos for the same. After the interaction session, we conducted an inter-group poster making competition in which the students were asked to represent the topic in the most artistic way possible. We provided the children with papers, sketches and pencils. Following this was an idea writing competition between children in which they were asked to pen down their ideas on how to save water.

Following this was the prize distribution for the winners. After this, we demonstrated the SIP method of small scale drip plantation that the children could practice themselves and grow saplings. Finally, we took a pledge to save even the single drop of water and distributed chocolates and pens to each and every child of the orphanage. The children treated us gracefully, and showered us with affection and appreciation. The smiles on their faces and cheers of encouragement were worth a million bucks.
