World Environment Day 2016 Celebrations - AYUDH Mumbai Chapter

As part of the Haritamritam initiative, AYUDH Mumbai celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2016 at its Mumbai Ashram. The event commenced with a prayer for world peace and restoring lost harmony in nature. For the event organic saplings were selected bearing fruits, medicinal value with a hope and prayer that some poor and hungry may fill his stomach through the fruits or the medicinal herbs may be beneficial to a needy. These trees would be planted in public gardens across Mumbai for the benefit of society. On the conclusion of Pooja, AYUDH volunteers distributed the saplings to all those present for the occasion. The event was well attended by public across age groups portraying enthusiasm among generations to strive for good health and restore harmony in nature.

Brief on Haritamritam

Haritamritam is a humanitarian initiative of Mata Amritanandmayi Math to promote organic farming , vegetable cultivation and to revive the culture of growing vegetables that one consumes without using chemicals and pesticides. Over the years AYUDH Mumbai has been earnestly working towards creating a greener environment through activities such as organic kitchen, gardening, compost making, maintaining a garden with a wide variety of plants. Till date more than 7000 saplings have been planted by AYUDH Mumbai team.
