Ayudh Celebrated World Environment Day 2022
"We have #OnlyOneEarth ", saying the slogan led by #UNEP and with the focus on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”, World Environment Day 2022 was celebrated by Millions of people across the world yesterday, on June 5, 2022.
On World Environment Day 2022, AYUDHians from various states of India organized a 3R Green Workshop. It was a great pleasure to have Mr. Dorian Spacc from AYUDH Europe as the Chief guest and Speaker. He joined the AYUDH team from France and spoke about the role of Youth for a Cleaner and Greener Environment. Mr Dorian Spaac also shared specific environmental projects of AYUDH Europe such as rain water harvesting and honey bee farming which has a great impact on environment and how he has helped to manage and implement those projects in France. The Q&A of AYUDHians with the speaker was very interesting and it gave new ideas for future AYUDH projects.
After hearing from Mr Dorian Spacc, Ms Anushree Pandya from AYUDH Ahmedabad did the demonstration on how to plant a sapling in a Sub Irrigation Planter. She demonstrated how to make the planter from waste plastic bottles and explained how the model is helping us to do water conservation and plastic recycling. The AYUDHians made the planter along with the demonstrator and planted saplings in their respective locations, providing virtual support and guidance to one another.
Brahmacharini Amritatmika Chaitanya appreciated all AYUDH chapters for all their wonderful projects and initiatives done in the previous years and for all the efforts that they have been taking to love and care Nature. She also shared Amma's message with AYUDHians. Amma says, "Currently, it is as if Mother Nature has stage 3 cancer. Our care alone will determine how long she can be sustained. Our efforts can keep away pandemics, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods and global warming to a great extent. If we are united in our efforts, we can walk back at least 10% of the way. But we also need the factor of grace. For that, we need effort, humility and to treat Nature with respectful and prayerful attitude.”
Amma’s words are always the inspiration to our AYUDHians to come up with more projects for the Environment. Through AYUDH activities, youth members are gradually increasing their knowledge of it and attunement to Nature. They are living closer to Nature and taking steps to safeguard her. At the same time, they are learning the slowly dying art of sustainable farming even in urban locations so as to grow chemical free vegetables for their own consumption, and also giving awareness and training to their neighbouring societies to do so.
“I am really impressed by all of your prior preparations, getting ready the all the materials in advance and being coordinated throughout the country for this project. Thank you for this enthusiasm and interest in planting. It can be a great support in life. I really enjoyed it. I wish you a very fruitful Environment Day. This is really a great technique, that can be implemented anywhere” said Mr Dorian Spaac, France, AYUDH Europe.
“Today after planting the sapling, I am feeling very proud of myself. It was a heart-filling experience. I feel, I did something great and took something good out of me. I will definitely give this awareness and training to my friends and relatives. Thank you so much for this great opportunity“, remarked Ms Harsi Patel from Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
“Though this activity was supposed to be done offline, I never felt any difference in doing it online. The steps were so properly demonstrated online and we all could do it perfectly. It was nice coming together from various states and doing this together and praying for World Peace together! I am impressed with the demo and presentation. Just loved the technique”, remarked Mr Amey from Baneshwar, Maharashtra.
“I am very much excited and I am happy that this project is done on the WED2022. Though there is no land or space, it could be done in every home. I feel a special love and bond with my plant now and eager to see the growth of my plant“ said Ms Konkana Chakraborty from Kolkata, West Bengal.
“We learned a new technique and did planting today. This is a good model for water conservation too. I feel so happy and content doing it together with my friends on this special day”, said Soham Londhe, Pune, Maharashtara.
“I am a new member in AYUDH and this is the first time I took part in such an environmental activity with the like minded people. I feel so much joy within and proud to be an AYUDHian!”said Ms Mrinmoyee from Durgapur, West Bengal.
"In the universe there are billions of galaxies and in our galaxy there are billions of planets, But there is Only One Earth. The speeches were thought provoking and made me contemplate about these factors. I feel our AYUDH family has to consider all days as Environment day and do something good for Nature every day “, said Ms Dikhita Mahapatra from Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.
The AYUDH coordinators from all chapters thanked Mr Dorian Spaac for joining the event in spite of his busy schedule.
On this world environment day, we hope all Youth will take active steps towards collective transformative actions on a global scale to celebrate, protect and restore our planet, our common home! Let's take care of it. We don’t have a backup for this.
