Haritamritam Launched in Pune on Environment Day

Nigdi, June 5: ‘Haritamritam ‘a green initiative of Mata Amritanandamayi Math was launched in Pune on June 5, World Environment day at Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Yamuna Nagar, Nigdi. Mr. Shrirang Barne, Mr. Pushkaraj Chirputkar (Aashu), cine actor were the chief guests for the official launch. Mr Santosh Nimbalkar who is managing 14 acres of organic farm at Narayangaon shared his success story. Swami Vidyamritananda Puri, the Mata Amritanandamayi Math in charge and Bri Pavanamrita Chaitanya, Principal of Amrita Vidyalayam gave special address.

This green Initiative on Organic Terrace Gardening is going to be driven by Awaken Youth; Unite for Dharma (AYUDH), the youth wing of Mata Amritanandamayi Math. The project is aiming to spread the culture of organic terrace farming to 5,000 families in ONE year.

On the Same day the AYUDH team also organized a hands on workshop on organic terrace gardening. The team members arranged the stage and prepared all the materials required for the workshop. This involved sourcing all the raw materials and arranging them for the demo session. Registrations were taken for participants interested in the workshop and also for future workshops. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Dhananjay Motaghare, Director at CAREOL SOLUTIONS and organic farming expert along with Ayudh Team. The AYUDH team members demonstrated the process on stage. After the workshop was the official Launch of Haritamritam in which all the dignitaries planted one vegetable sapling each in a grow bag and flagged of the ambitious project of teaching organic terrace gardening to 5000 families. Mr. Srirang Barne in his speech said that inorganic farming has become one of the greatest threats to human health leading to alarming numbers of cancer patients and it was high timethat we adopted organic farming. Swami Vidyamritanada Puri, In-charge of the M.A Math quoted verses from the vedic literature about the consequences of disturbing the environmental balance. Swami also mentioned about the flaws of current education system which is not giving importance for awareness on Environment and protection of Nature. Mr. Santosh Nimbarkar in his speech condemned the rampant use of insecticides and called for the adoption of organic farming. Mr Pushkaraj Chirputkar, cine actor appreciated the Ayudh Team for the wonderful efforts and requested the urban residents to participate in the project and get reconnected with nature.

The program concluded with the AYUDH team distributing free vegetable saplings and instruction guide to all the attendees of the program and encouraging them to plant them in their terraces and balcony. The AYUDH team was inspired by Cine actor Mr Pushkaraj when he offered to click a group photograph and record a video of them saying the AYUDH tagline in unison.
