Seva Week Organized By AYUDH Ahmedabad
AYUDH Ahmedabad was part of the Coordination Committee for Seva Week organized by Amrita Vidyalayam as a tribute to Amritavarsham70. The initiative is a week-long series of helpful activities to serve the community and make it a better place for everyone. Volunteers from AYUDH, school students, and devotees came together and contributed their efforts.
Seva Week, a week of selfless service, began on September 23rd. The first-day activity included the distribution of essential kits to orphanages and old age homes. On the second day, a free medical and blood donation camp was held. The third day was "Amala Bharatam" day - a cleanliness drive to clean public toilets and promote hygiene awareness. On the fourth day, volunteers marched to raise awareness about the importance of conserving natural resources for saving the environment. To conclude Seva Week, a seed ball activity was organized to train students from the neighboring schools on how to make seed balls.
Seva Week could be called a perfect gift for a mother who herself has transformed her birthday into a prayer for world peace and happiness. Amma always says that she loves to see her children serving selflessly for the world. She quotes, “The beauty and charm of selfless love and service should not die away from the face of this earth. The world should know that a life of dedication is possible, that a life inspired by love and service to humanity is possible.”
Volunteers felt a sense of fulfillment after serving for a week straight. They were privileged to participate in a variety of activities that made a real difference in the lives of others. Through conversations with the participants, they learned how much society needs awareness and other services to live a basic and happy life. Many participants also expressed their interest in joining AYUDH to do their part to make the world a better place.
This is what Amma tries to make us understand compassion is the universal language of the heart that unites us all.
